fill-in – fill in text files

fill-in is actually the only remaining actual C-program I found in my project-directory. It very efficiently does a simple job, namely to replace strings of a text with environment-variables or the contents of files, respectively.

It has been written a long time ago as a part of some scripts to generate my old homepage, however, as I switched from C to python, almost everything I had written and actually used so far got re-written in python, this is the only one I left because I still used it occassionally from the shell.

Later, I never again felt the need to write anything in C, for execution time got less and less important to me, and rapid development is exactly the thing languages like python have been created for. I guess this one is rather something you might want to have a look at with a school class rather than to really use, so what, here it is:
